Born of a need for a gun that could fire multiple projectiles from a single powder charge, the blunderbuss became the weapon of choice for short-range encounters with the miscreants of the 17th and 18th centuries. Stagecoach guards, mariners and ordinary householders appreciated the awesome effect of a blunderbuss blast, provided they were on the right end of the weapon! In these replicas of English pieces, the barrels and locks are ornately detailed to showcase the talents of the gun maker.
